Warning Signs examines the marks of gunfire on roadside signs encountered during my travels across America. Objects intended to guide and protect the public become records of the violence directed at them. Arrows, animal silhouettes, school warnings, and commands to stop or yield acquire unsettling meanings through their damage.
Repetition is central to the work. Each photograph adds another encounter until an isolated act begins to register as a persistent condition of the landscape. Together, these images question the normalization of gunfire and the priorities reflected in American firearm policy.
